The Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) on Monday, 15th September, 2025 paid a courtesy visit to the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as part of activities lined up for the hospital’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Leading the delegation, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, briefed the monarch on preparations for the golden jubilee and sought his royal blessings for a hitch-free commemoration. He also reaffirmed OAUTHC’s commitment to fulfilling its earlier promises regarding the upgrade and expansion of Wesley Guild Hospital, assuring the community that the anniversary would mark the beginning a new phase of improved healthcare delivery in Ijesaland.
In his remarks, Oba Haastrup commended the hospital’s contributions to healthcare and medical training in Nigeria over the past five decades. He pledged the full support of the Ijesa community and offered royal prayers for the continued growth of OAUTHC.

A highlight of the visit was the presentation of a commemorative gift by Prof. Okeniyi to the monarch on behalf of the management. The Owa Obokun warmly received the gift, describing it as a thoughtful gesture and a testament to the enduring partnership between OAUTHC and Ijesaland.

The visit ended on a note of mutual optimism, with both sides expressing confidence that the golden jubilee will not only celebrate OAUTHC’s past achievements but also inspire renewed commitment to excellence in healthcare across all its facilities, including Wesley Guild Hospital.
