Alumni Refurbishes Lecture Theatre, Donates 100 Chairs in Honour of Late Professor Loto

The 1992 Set of the Medical and Dental Class of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has refurbished a lecture theatre and donated 100 ultramodern chairs to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife. in honour of their late colleague, Prof. Morebise Olabisi Loto.

The facility was handed over by the Provost, College of Health Sciences on November 5, 2025, during a brief but colourful ceremony at the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, OAUTHC, Ile-Ife.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, hailed the 1992 set for their generosity, saying the donation would improve comfort and learning in the department.

Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof. Bernice Adegbehingbe, described the gesture as a befitting tribute to Prof. Loto, noting that he was “more than a teacher a father, mentor, and inspiration.”

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akanni Akinyemi commended the alumni for their commitment to the faculty, noting that Prof. Loto’s generosity and service continue to inspire many.

Family members of the late professor expressed gratitude, describing the gesture as heartwarming and reflective of his life of service.

The event drew top management staff, alumni representatives, students, and dignitaries who applauded the initiative as a model of giving back.

Prof. Adeyemi Adebanjo of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in his vote of thanks, described the handing over as a mark of excellence and prayed for God’s strength for Prof. Loto family.
