Eight teams entered. Two teams remained. And on Tuesday, November 10, 2025, under a sky that felt made for finals, the Doctors edged the College of Nursing 2–1 to win the OAUTHC @50 Football Final, capping a month of friendly rivalry and serious bragging rights across the hospital community.

The College of Nursing struck first, nicking a deserved lead before halftime and silencing a boisterous Doctors’ end. But the game flipped after the restart: the Doctors pressed higher, strung passes with surgical precision, and found their equaliser before driving home the winner in a frantic closing spell. The final whistle triggered a chorus of cheers, vuvuzelas and celebratory selfies as teammates sprinted toward their bench in a jubilant pile-on.

The football finale was the showpiece of an intriguing OAUTHC @50 Sports Competition a golden-jubilee carnival that stretched across pitches, courts, boards and tracks. It wasn’t just about medals; it was about camaraderie, wellbeing and the sheer joy of seeing colleagues swap scrubs for sports kits.

After the final, the atmosphere lifted another gear as management and the planning committee presented medals across all events. In a gesture warmly received by participants, the hospital also announced cash gifts for winners an extra sparkle on an already glittering evening.

If the goal was to unite departments, recharge morale and spotlight the hospital’s wellness culture, mission accomplished. The competition didn’t merely crown champions; it reignited a spirit of unity and set the tone for ongoing staff sporting engagements well beyond the anniversary.
