OAUTHC Celebrates End of Year Children’s Party

The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex celebrated her annual end-of-year children’s party at the Rural Comprehensive Health Centre (RCHC) Imesi-Ile, Wesley Guild Hospital Unit (WGH) Ilesa and Urban Comprehensive Health Centre (UCHC) Eleyele, Ile-Ife on 11th, 12th and 14th December 2023 respectively.

The event, organized exclusively by the Community Health Nursing Department, aimed to express gratitude to parents who have had their children and wards immunized at the hospital.

The Chief Medical Director, who was represented by Dr. Akintunde Olowookere, the Physician-in-Charge of WGH at Ilesa and Dr Solomon Nwhator, the Physician-in-Charge of Dental Centre, who also stood in for the CMD at UCHC, Eleyele, while delivering his address, urged parents to redouble their efforts in caring for their children.

Hon. Taiwo Ilesanmi, the Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government and the Chairman of the event at Ilesa, who was represented by his wife, Mrs Motunrayo Ilesanmi, encouraged parents to allocate sufficient time for their children to help shape their desired future.

The Head of Community Health Nursing Department at OAUTHC, Mrs Veronica Adeyeni also reminded mothers about the essence of breastfeeding, the importance of immunization, the need for children to be fed well for growth, and family planning when the need arises.

Various activities unfolded during the event, including a playlet, games, presentation of gifts, and awards.
