The College of Nursing Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, held its 4th capping ceremony on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Florence Nightingale Nurses’ House, IHU, Ile-Ife.
The colorful ceremony marked the official capping of 116 nursing students across the two campuses of the college, (Ife and Ilesha) signifying their readiness to serve as professional nurses.
In her welcome address, the Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Mrs. Lolade Oyedero, congratulated the students on achieving this milestone. She further expressed appreciation to the Management of OAUTHC and the Parents and Tutors Forum (PTF) for their consistent support towards the college’s progress.

The Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, Prof. John Okeniyi, commended the students for their achievements and encouraged them to remain diligent in their studies in order to excel academically. He also specially thanked the Parents and Tutors Forum for their invaluable support to the institution and the students.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Parents and Tutors Forum, Mr. Ayodele Esanju, advised the inductees to face their studies squarely and remain focused on the path of success.

Delivering the keynote address titled “Beyond the Books: Thriving in Your Nursing Journey,” Dr. (Mrs.) Gladys Oluwasanmi urged the students to imbibe resilience, compassion, and professionalism in their nursing practice, stressing that nursing goes beyond academic knowledge.

The highlight of the ceremony was the capping and induction led by the Director of Nursing Services, Osun State, Mrs. Folasade Abiala. She administered the oath to the nursing students, charging them to remain dedicated, well-behaved, and to uphold the dignity of the nursing profession.

The event ended with joy and thanksgiving, as the newly capped students embraced their nursing journey with renewed commitment to service and excellence.
