The School of Health Information Management (SHIM) at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital complex held its 2026 induction ceremony on Friday, January 16 2026, celebrating the milestone achievements of sixty-six (66) graduates into the healthcare profession.

‎Declaring the event opened, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi congratulated the inductees, he implored them to approach their career with integrity, emphasizing the importance of learning in today’s digital world.

The Head of the School, Mr Sunday Omokanye, congratulated the graduates for the significant milestone as they transited to becoming professional health information managers. He appreciated the management for their support towards the pursuit of excellence.

The guest lecturer, Mr Olufemi Ayodele ably represented by Olatunde Awowola delivered a lecture on enhancing health data integrity for credible health information management (HIM) practice in the digital age. He emphasized Nigeria’s rapid transition from paper based records to advanced digital health systems, describing it as a major revolution in healthcare delivery.

The Registrar, Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN), Mr Mustapha Babagana, who was represented by Mrs Champion Afolayan led the Oath-taking of the inductees.

‎In her goodwill message, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Josephine Eziyi urged the graduates to uphold integrity and progress well in their endeavors.

Also, in his goodwill message, the Director of Administration, Dr Ayodeji Bobade  congratulated them on their selfless effort towards the completion of their programme and wished them well in their career progression.

Speaking as the Overall Best Graduating Student, Glory Disu appreciated their parents and guardians for their support throughout the completion of their programme. She emphasized discipline and hardwork as the basic foundation for success.
