SHIM Celebrates Graduating Students

The School of Health Information Management, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile – Ife, celebrated seventy-one graduates as professional health information managers on Friday 15th December, 2023.

Mr Akingbola Omokanye, the Ag. Head of the school emphasized this significant milestone in their educational journey as they transited from being students to becoming professionals in the field of Health Information Management.

He also conveyed his deepest appreciation to the Chief Medical Director, Prof John Okeniyi and esteemed members of the Management team for their unwavering support and guidance in their pursuit of excellence.

The guest lecturer, Alh. Ibrahim Adeleke discussed the Health Data Analysis and stressed the need for synthesized insight for resourceful professionals in health care.

The Registrar Health Records Officers’ Registration Board of Nigeria (H R O R B N) Mr Mustapha Babagana, who was represented by Mrs Champion Afolayan, led the oath-taking of the inductees.

In her speech, the Ag. Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Eniola Eziyi congratulated the inductees and parents.

She urged the graduates to keep shining and uphold integrity in all they do. Speaking as the best graduating student of the 2023 graduating set, Blessing Bakare emphasized reading as the rudimental process of learning and the importance of balancing academics with social life.

 The Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi congratulated the graduates and their parents on the success of their studies.

This was followed by launching and unveiling of the Book of Abstract; a compendium of all research work done by the 2023 SHIM graduates.

He described the book as a living testimony of their sojourn. He also revealed his intention to introduce Electronic Medical records to the school’s system.
