In a major boost to healthcare delivery, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has donated a fully equipped Urology Centre to the Urology Unit of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. The commissioning ceremony took place on Wednesday, 16th July 2025.
Speaking at the event, Southwest Representative on the TETFund Board of Trustees Hon. Sunday Adepoju, expressed satisfaction that the funds provided were utilized effectively. He noted that the newly commissioned centre is furnished with advanced, high-quality equipment comparable to that found in other standard facilities.
Hon. Adepoju emphasized that the centre is expected to deliver top-quality healthcare services and help reduce the rate of medical tourism among Nigerians by providing advanced equipment that supports and motivates healthcare professionals.
In his response, the Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, Prof. John Okeniyi, extended heartfelt gratitude to TETFund and Hon. Adepoju for their unwavering support. He assured the guests that the facility would be put to optimal use and expressed hope for continued collaboration between the hospital and TETFund.
Also present at the commissioning were the Chairman, TETFund Committee of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Yinka Akinlo; Provost, College of Health Sciences, OAU, Prof. Kolawole; Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Salako; and several top management officials of OAUTHC.
