Commemorating International Day of Anti-Corruption: OAUTHC Joins Forces with ICPC

In partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife, marked the International Anti-Corruption Day, highlighting the theme “Uniting the World Against Corruption.”

The event focused on the link between anti-corruption and peace, security, and development.

The OAUTHC Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit Chairman, Dr Bello, stressed the need to fight corruption with genuineness and sincerity, calling for staff to assume the role of whistleblowers. He emphasized corruption’s detrimental impact on healthcare, human rights, and the environment.

Prof. Okeniyi, the Chief Medical Director, described corruption as a global cankerworm eroding public trust and undermining competence. He pledged to lead the fight against corruption within OAUTHC and beyond, adhering to the United Nations Anti-Corruption principles and the 2030 agenda.

He reaffirmed his oath to serve patients with honesty and respect, undeterred by resistance from beneficiaries of corruption.

Mr Demola Bakare

ICPC State Commissioner Mr Bakare lauded OAUTHC’s leadership for establishing an ACTU, highlighting its compliance as a significant milestone. He praised Prof. Okeniyi’s commitment to anti-corruption efforts, noting OAUTHC’s promising performance in the 2023 review and assessment.

The event served as a strong reminder of our collective responsibility in combating corruption and building a just and equitable society.
