MDCAN Honours Health Assistant Fatimah Salaudeen on Retirement

In a remarkable show of appreciation, the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), OAUTHC chapter, held a special retirement ceremony for Mrs. Fatimah Salaudeen, a long-serving health assistant known for her dedication and exceptional service to the hospital community.

The event, held at the MDCAN Lounge, drew members of the hospital management, consultants, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Salaudeen’s decades of long service to the hospital community. In his opening address, Dr. Ademola Talabi, a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, described the occasion as unprecedented in the hospital’s history, lauding Mrs. Salaudeen as a hardworking and committed individual whose humility and professionalism transcended barriers of religion, age, and tribe. He urged her to make productive use of the retirement support items presented by the association.

Tributes poured in from the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Eniola Eziyi, and the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Akinwumi Komolafe, who praised her cheerful spirit and unwavering commitment. They emphasized that her attitude to work set a benchmark for excellence and service.

Dr. Ibrahim Bello, former Head of Family Medicine and chairman of the event, emphasized the importance of gratitude, noting that the event marks a historic moment at OAUTHC. He commended Mrs. Salaudeen for her exemplary contributions and encouraged her to stay the course, expressing confidence that divine support would continue to guide her journey.

The MDCAN Chairman Prof. Olufemi Ogundipe who was represented by the secretary of the association, Dr. Tajudin Adetunji, echoed similar sentiments, describing her as calm, spiritual, and an inspiration to all.

Overwhelmed with emotions, Mrs. Salaudeen expressed deep gratitude to MDCAN and its members for the honour, praying for God’s continued guidance and protection over all who supported her.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Oluwasegun Ijarotimi, a Consultant Gastroenterologist, who acknowledged the many tributes paid to the celebrant, describing her as truly deserving of the accolades. He extended best wishes to her as she embarks on a new chapter.
