ICYMI, College of Nursing Caps 122 Students at 5th Capping Ceremony

The College of Nursing Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, held its 5th Capping Ceremony for 122 students on Thursday, 30th July 2026, at the Florence Nightingale Hall, Ile-Ife.

The ceremony was held for the National Diploma (ND I) students of the 2025 intake of the College of Nursing Sciences, OAUTHC, Ile-Ife and Ilesa.

In her welcome address, the Provost of the College, Mrs. Lolade Oyedero, appreciated the management of OAUTHC and the Parents-Tutors Forum (PTF) for their continued support towards the growth and development of the College. She noted that the College has remained a beacon of excellence in nursing education and care and urged the students to uphold the standard of excellence for which the institution is known for.

Representing the Chief Medical Director, the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Olalekan Olasehinde, congratulated the students on their success in the examinations. He urged them to remain focused, uphold the ethics and values of the nursing profession, and maintain high standards in their careers.

While administering the professional oath, Mrs. Adenike Onifade, representing the Director of Nursing Services, Osun State, charged the students to adhere to the rules, ethics and principles of the nursing profession. She congratulated them on choosing nursing as a noble profession.

Delivering the keynote address titled “The Journey Starts Now,” Dr. Abidemi Fajobi encouraged the students to continually develop their knowledge and skills as they begin their professional journey.

The Chairman of the Parents-Tutors Forum, Mr. Ayodele Esanju, highlighted the Forum’s contributions to the development of the College through various interventions and donations aimed at improving students’ academic experience and welfare.

The highlight of the ceremony was the capping exercise, led by the management team and dignitaries, during which 122 students were formally capped, marking a significant milestone in their journey into the nursing profession.
