The Artisans, Peasants and Traders Association of Nigeria (APTAN), Ife Chapter and its environs, paid a humanitarian visit to the Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) Ile-Ife, on Monday 20th, August 2025.
The association, led by its Coordinator, Comrade Saheed Adegoke stated that APTAN was established in 2007 with the aim of building a better society, enhancing members’ craftsmanship, and supporting young artisans to start their trades immediately after apprenticeship, even when they are not financially buoyant.

As part of activities marking their annual APTAN week, themed “Safety and health” and featuring a lecture titled “Occupational Safety and Health Management for Artisans and Entrepreneurs” the group decided to visit the hospital management to appreciate their selfless service to humanity and to extend gifts to patients as a gesture of love and solidarity, reminding them that they are not alone. The visit further served as an avenue to discuss possible areas of collaboration with the hospital to contribute to its growth and societal impact.
The Chairman Medical Advisory Committee Prof. Josephine Eziyi, expressed appreciation for the association’s thoughtful visit. She encouraged members to remain honest and sincere in their daily engagements and to maintain calmness and cooperation when dealing with hospital personnel during treatment.

Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Akinwumi Komolafe informed the delegation about the hospital’s upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration, urging them to seize the opportunity to make a memorable contribution to the hospital’s legacy.
