The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA), led by the Chairman, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community service. In collaboration with Colonel Dr. Akin Moses, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, and Prof. Isaac Adewole, Chairman of Project Planning and Monitoring, both associated with the Ijesaland Geriatric Centre, the assembly has donated medical equipment valued at over a billion naira to the Ijesa Land Geriatric Centre.
This philanthropic endeavour follows other generous donations made to the Centre after the construction and equipping of the billion-naira Geriatric Centre by the group, marked as the first of its kind in West Africa. The facility was subsequently handed over to the Management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex. The assembly, alongside other individuals from Ijesa land, continues its generous efforts to maintain the centre at a world-class standard, ensuring that the elderly population of Ijesaland and its surrounding areas receive top-notch care.
Expressing gratitude, the Management of the OAUTHC, led by the Chief Medical Director Prof. John Okeniyi, conveyed their excitement upon receiving the donated medical equipment, describing the atmosphere as “euphoric.” Prof. Okeniyi commended the assembly for their significant contributions, both past and present, emphasizing their pivotal role in the growth and development of Wesley Guild Hospital, Geriatric Centre, and Rural Comprehensive Health Centre in Imesi-Ile.
In a letter of appreciation, the CMD reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with stakeholders and judiciously utilize the donated medical equipment to provide world-class treatments to the centre’s patients. This commendable act of service towards the people of Ijesaland and humanity at large deserves utmost praise.
