The Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile Ife, on Friday 28th April 2023 hosted a team of the Faculty Board of Emergency Medicine, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN). The team was on an inspection and accreditation visit to the Emergency Medicine Department of the hospital.

The team Leader, Dr Andrew Imogu, explained that they came mainly to look at the facilities on the ground to train Resident Doctors in Emergency Medicine at the OAUTHC. Other members of the team were Prof. Usang E. Usang, a professor of paediatric surgery at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital; Dr Sydney Ibeanusi, Chief Consultant and orthopaedic surgeon and director of Trauma and Orthopaedics, Federal Ministry of Health; and Dr Akinyemi Aje, Chief Consultant Cardiologist, University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Dr Imogu , having toured the hospital complex, gave his report in which he commended the Dr Owojuyigbe-led administration for the improvements done from time to time on the facilities .He assured the Management that with little readjustment, the department was set to take off.

While appreciating the team’s visit, the Acting Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, Dr Afolabi Owojuyigbe, noted that the Management would be ready to take the team’s criticism of the inspected facilities constructively.
