In his consistent act of generosity, Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State and immediate past National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, again cleared the hospital bills of indigent patients and offered gift items at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals, Complex, Ile-Ife, on the 1st January, 2024.

Sen. Omisore described the first day of the year as a period when families come together to celebrate.

However, those on hospital beds do not enjoy equal opportunity to celebrate the festivities.

He, therefore, chose to spend the day with patients at the hospital to create a friendly atmosphere and reassure them of God’s divine healing.

He further stated that OAUTHC has become a centre of excellence, and to further enhance its excellence, he decided to support its vision.

In the words of Mr. Jamiu Olawumi, former Special Adviser to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Education, “Sen. Omisore starts each year on a bright note.”

This is accomplished by absorbing the financial load of unpaid healthcare bills, assisting the vulnerable, and doing so regardless of cultural differences or gender. Furthermore, he stated that this has been the practice for over twenty years.

According to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, OAUTHC has been a major beneficiary of the bigheartedness of Sen. Iyiola Omisore.

The entirety of the hospital’s existence over the last fifteen years cannot be described without affirming the efforts of Otunba Omisore.

The CMD expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Management, the past CMDs, and all patients who have benefited from the generosity for decades. He further encouraged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the benevolence of Senator Omisore.

Later in the day, some members of the Management of OAUTHC led by the Ag. Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Akinwumi Komolafe went round wards at Ife Hospital Unit and Wesley Guild Hospital Unit, to give gifts to babies born in the new year.

Baby of the Year

Dr. Komolafe extended monetary gifts to the “baby of the year” at Ife Hospital Unit and Wesley Guild Hospital.

The parents as well as their relatives were appreciated for choosing OAUTHC.

He also appreciated staff members for their contributions through the last year, and encouraged them to maintain a positive mindset, while assuring them of the administration’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and attentiveness to their concerns.

In a similar event, the Chief Medical Director, Prof John Okeniyi, received the donation of 50 Bedsheets on behalf of the Management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex from Sooko Adegboyega Ogunwusi.

Sooko Adegboyega Ogunwusi said the kind gesture was done with the support of his wife, Dr Mrs Kemi Ogunwusi and assured of their continued support to the hospital.

He, therefore, promised to donate every year and intends to bring a medical outreach program to the hospital.

Prof John Okeniyi thanked him for his generous donation and said the hospital would look forward to receiving more support from him and the family.
