The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Prof. John Okeniyi, has expressed his appreciation for the newly announced initiative by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to implement a 50% subsidy on electricity for hospitals across the nation.
This announcement was made by the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on Thursday, 29th August 2024, and reiterated at the ongoing Committee of CMDs in Abuja confirming that the Federal Government has approved the 50% electricity subsidy for public hospitals.
In light of this, Prof. Okeniyi, has acknowledged and lauded the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, for fulfilling the Federal Government’s promise to subsidize electricity in hospitals and universities, even if they are on Band-A feeders.
The CMD further emphasized the hospital’s strong trust in the administration’s Renewed Hope Mandate and its readiness to commit and deploy everything necessary to realize this great vision.
The management of OAUTHC truly appreciates and commends the administration for this pivotal initiative, which will reduce the heavy operational costs for hospitals nationwide. Electricity is essential to the optimal functioning of OAUTHC and other healthcare institutions across the nation.
