The Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex has announced the commencement of the FastCare e-Wallet payment system in partnership with HealthStation.
It is a self-service system that will empower clients to pay for services seamlessly through a pre-funded safe personalized wallet.
This development would make internal billing within the hospital digitized, safer, faster, and more seamless for the patients while eliminating long queues at cash points and attendant service delays.
This is another one of the many strategies by the Management to transform the operations and processes in the hospital to reflect the advanced standard practice currently at play at many top hospitals in the world.
The e-Wallet will massively reduce the distress patients experience while paying for services. Their fund will be stored in a personalized wallet directly linked to their profile in the hospital’s database which would immediately be visible to the biller at every point of payment in the hospital.
This innovation immediately eliminates the limitations imposed by cash scarcity, POS malfunctioning, and card transaction declines, which up until now have been a source of stress for patients and service providers.
Patients can now rest assured that they can make payments at any point within the hospital even without the availability of transaction tokens like cash, ATM cards, and even their bank apps.
The new FastCare e-Wallet payment system is already in operation. The transitioning process for patients to get on-boarded to this new system will commence at the Ife Hospital Unit in the first instance. Read our guide on how to get started on it here.
Further expansion into other units will be announced from time to time. Despite this new development, the cash points will continue functioning as usual to accommodate those unwilling or not yet ready to key into the new wallet system.
The Management of the hospital is fully committed to making the experience of patients in the hospital quick, easy, and seamless.
We request full cooperation from all stakeholders to make this innovation a success.
