The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Prof. John Okeniyi, alongside members of the hospital’s top management team, paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ogunsua of Modakeke, HRM. Oba Joseph Olubiyi Olutoriola, on Tuesday, 26th August 2025.
The CMD in his remark explained that the visit had earlier been scheduled but was postponed due to the Governor’s engagement at the palace. He introduced himself as the hospital’s Chief Medical Director and presented other key members of the management team.

Responding, the monarch expressed profound appreciation to OAUTHC’s management for their resilience and unwavering commitment to patient care. He recalled instances where patients in critical conditions were successfully treated at the hospital, noting that such dedication continues to inspire public confidence. He offered prayers for the team, urging them to remain diligent, build lasting legacies, and be remembered for their positive impact.

Prof. Okeniyi, while presenting commemorative kits to the monarch, announced the year-long celebration of OAUTHC’s 50th Anniversary. He highlighted the hospital’s milestones despite challenges, including successful management of complex conditions, strides in cancer care, and the training of top professionals through its nursing and health information schools. He further stated that the anniversary committee would engage the monarch and community in supporting the celebrations and advancing the hospital’s growth, particularly in infrastructure.

Receiving the anniversary kits, the Ogunsua expressed delight at the hospital’s plans and offered prayers for its continued success. He highlighted the town’s festive occasions, such as Modakeke Akoraye Day, which bring indigenes from within and outside the country together. He added that he would work with the hospital management to explore collaborative opportunities that would benefit both the hospital and the community.
