OAUTHC, University of Ilesa Explore Strategic Partnership for Health, Academic Advancement

The management team of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Ilesa on 25th April , 2025, as part of efforts to foster collaboration and strengthen institutional tie

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, expressed appreciation to the OAUTHC management team for the visit. He noted that the university, established in September 2022 and fully operational by April 2023, now offers 67 academic programmes and continues to experience steady growth. Prof. Asaolu appealed for support from the hospital’s leadership and expressed optimism about a partnership that would promote academic excellence and healthcare development.

The Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, Prof. John Okeniyi, expressed sympathy to the university community over the recent tragic loss of a student who was electrocuted while using a mobile phone during a thunderstorm. He commended the institution’s leadership and proposed the introduction of short paramedic courses to offer certified training opportunities. Prof. Okeniyi emphasized the potential for a strong and impactful partnership between OAUTHC and the University of Ilesa.

In his vote of thanks, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Bukola Olatundun, thanked the OAUTHC team and described the visit as timely and significant in fostering productive collaboration

The visit concluded with a guided tour of key university facilities, including the Central Science Laboratory, the Nursing Sciences Laboratory, and the Anatomy Laboratory.
