As part of its annual tradition of giving back to the community during the festive season, the Oninure Foundation of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, distributed gift items to children in various wards on December 30, 2024.
Established alongside the hospital, the foundation extended its generosity to paediatric patients at the Ife Hospital Unit (IHU), the Urban Comprehensive Health Centre (Eleyele), and the Wesley Guild Hospital (Ilesa).
During a visit to the hospital management, the Chairperson of the foundation, Mrs. Olabisi Ajayi (Director of Nursing Services), expressed her gratitude to the management for their unwavering support of the foundation’s initiatives.
She emphasized that such events provide an avenue for the hospital to give back to the public, especially to patients and their families.
The Foundation Secretary, Mrs. Ibitayo Adebowale (Director of Social Works), appealed for continued support from the hospital management, particularly in relation to the Oninure Trust Fund.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, commended the foundation for its dedication to brightening the lives of patients.
He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to supporting the foundation’s efforts and proposed the documentation of the foundation’s history. Prof. Okeniyi also suggested creating an online platform to facilitate donations from individuals and organizations willing to support the foundation’s cause.
To enhance the foundation’s operations, the Chief Medical Director recommended the immediate reactivation of the Oninure Foundation’s bank account, which had been inactive for an extended period. This move aims to ensure seamless financial transactions and sustain the foundation’s charitable activities.
The Oninure Foundation remains a symbol of compassion and dedication, bringing hope and joy to those in need within the OAUTHC community.
