Prof John Okeniyi has officially taken over the leadership of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex as the Chief Medical Director.

At the official handing over ceremony, the outgoing Ag Chief Medical Director, Prof. Lateef Salawu formally presented his handover notes detailing completed and ongoing projects and initiatives to Prof. Okeniyi, symbolizing the transfer of leadership.

In his farewell remark, Prof Salawu expressed his gratitude to all members of the Management, union leaders and all members of staff who had played instrumental roles during the transition.

He concluded his remark by formally welcoming the new CMD while advising him to seek divine guidance and at the same time offering his full support.

In his inaugural speech as the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Okeniyi extended his heartfelt gratitude to those in attendance and acknowledged their efforts and contributions to the development of the hospital.

He articulated a profound message of unity, reminding all present of their shared objective—the dedicated service to the institution and, above all, to the patients, irrespective of their specific roles within the organization.

He went on to underscore his core values of transparency and promptness, expressing his aspiration that, through his leadership, divine empowerment will propel all staff to act selflessly and righteously in their efforts to perpetuate the institution’s legacy.

Expressing gratitude to Prof. Salawu for stabilizing the institution during a challenging period, Prof. Okeniyi pledged to reach out to other applicants for the position, aiming to integrate their visions into the overarching goals of OAUTHC.

He recognized the uniqueness of the institution and its commitment to total holistic human health and preventive public health, in line with the IFE Philosophy.
