In a groundbreaking achievement, the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) bestowed its prestigious laboratory accreditation certificate upon OAUTHC’s PCR laboratory for Virology.
The momentous occasion, which occurred on the 23rd of October, 2023, marked a significant leap in the institution’s quest for excellence.
The accreditation certificate was presented to the hospital under the distinguished leadership of Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Akintunde Okeniyi, who stood at the helm of this transformative endeavour.
In her opening address, the project coordinator, Prof. Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, emphasized the laboratory’s sustained excellence over the years, a feat made possible through unwavering support from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) USA and its implementing partners.
Prof. Adejuyigbe highlighted the far-reaching impact of the OAUTHC Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) laboratory, which has emerged as a pivotal testing hub for numerous facilities across the entire Southwest.
In an exclusive interview with the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Akintunde Okeniyi underscored the profound significance of the accreditation.
He emphasized that the accreditation would elevate the institution’s standing and directly benefit patients by ensuring that the hospital operates at the pinnacle of international standards.
