OAUTHC Holds Orientation Program for House Officers

The management of OAUTHC on Friday 12th July 2024 held an orientation program for its newly employed house officers at the institution’s Small Auditorium. The event which was graced by the management staff had an array of lectures to ensure the new medical interns are equipped and ready to deliver their best while being at their best.

The event Facilitated by the Deputy Chairman Medical Advisory committee (DCMAC) opened with the Chief Medical Directors speech, in his remark, the CMD encouraged the interns that the House job year is a time to discover and bring out the best in you.

Broken into two sessions, the event boasted of lectures given by Consultant Doctors from the hospitals. Topics ranging from Stress management, Communication, Discipline and professionalism to record keeping and ethical approaches where taught.

The new interns where taught the importance of stress management and its impact on their output, the need to understand their leadership role as doctors and how this role should be executed in relationship with other stakeholders and what standard ethical practices are in doctor/ patient relationships. The need to know the tenets of the law as regards medical practice and follow them in other to protect themselves.

The Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) ended the lecture series by restating the commitment of management to ensuring the welfare of all employed interns.
