The students of the Department of Geography, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, under the auspices of the Care for Victims of Road Accident Project, demonstrated their commitment to charitable causes by donating a substantial quantity of medical supplies and consumables to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals (OAUTHC) in Ile-Ife.

This generous act was aimed at supporting the treatment of victims of road accidents receiving care at the hospital.
The Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, received the students and expressed his heartfelt appreciation for their kindness and concern for the well-being of others. He encouraged them to continue their humanitarian endeavours, acknowledging that their actions demonstrate a remarkable spirit of compassion, empathy, and concern for humanity.

Prof. Okeniyi, the CMD, emphasised that the value of their gesture lies not only in the material support provided but also in the hope and encouragement it brings to the recipients.
It would be recalled that the students’ gesture was not a one-time act; they had previously visited the hospital in 2023 with a similar donation, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to supporting accident victims.

Class representative Ekpo Victory assured that an even more substantial donation will be made in 2025, further solidifying their dedication to this noble cause. This ongoing commitment reflects their noble character, compassion, and dedication to positively impacting their community.

Dr. Olabisi Olapoju, the course coordinator and lecturer in the Department of Geography, led the
students in this charitable endeavour. He emphasised that learning extends beyond the classroom and includes developing moral character, good values, and a sense of social responsibility.
The students’ actions exemplify this principle, and their collaboration with partners beyond the
university community demonstrates their commitment to meaningful causes that benefit humanity.
