The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, has honoured one of its distinguished administrators, Mr. Ahmed Orabiyi, following his retirement after 35 years of dedicated service.

The ceremony organised in his honour, attracted colleagues, management staff, friends, and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate a career marked by diligence, integrity, and impactful leadership.

Born on 14th  May, 1967, Orabiyi commenced his career with OAUTHC in 1991 as a Clerical Officer in the Nursing Services Department. Through hard work and commitment, he rose through the ranks, serving in strategic departments including Establishments (Human Resource), General Administration, as well as Clinical Services and Training.

In pursuit of academic advancement, he proceeded on study leave between 1995 and 1999, during which he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He subsequently completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) before resuming duty in 2000.

Over the years, his competence and professionalism earned him key leadership positions. He served as Head of SERVICOM from June 2020, where he enhanced service delivery standards and strengthened accountability within the system. In November, he was redeployed to the Planning and Development Department, and in January 2024, he emerged as the pioneer Head of National Health Insurance Authority, at OAUTHC, following departmental restructuring.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, commended the retiree for his unwavering commitment to excellence and his significant contributions to administrative development within the institution. He described Orabiyi as an exceptional administrator whose legacy would remain a reference point.
