Officials of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on Thursday, 27th August, 2026, visited the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, to sensitise members of staff on new developments, requirements and guidelines regarding Assets Declaration.
The enlightenment programme was aimed at enhancing staff awareness and promoting compliance with the provisions guiding Assets Declaration.
In his welcome address, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, described Assets Declaration as a mandatory exercise for all members of staff, noting that failure to participate could constitute a criminal offence. He therefore charged participants to actively engage the CCB officials by seeking clarifications on any issues relating to the declaration process.
The State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr Stephen Afolami, in his lecture, stated that the CCB was the first anti-corruption agency established in Nigeria, predating the establishment of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to him, the vision of the CCB is centred on honesty, transparency and accountability, while its mission is to eradicate corruption among public officers. He explained that the Assets Declaration Form to be completed by members of staff is one of the mechanisms employed by the Bureau to promote transparency and combat corruption among public officers.
The Assistant Chief Superintendent, Mrs Catherine Aborode and the Assistant Superintendent, Mrs Foluke Bolawole, also gave a detailed explanation on the proper procedure for completing the Assets Declaration Form. They particularly addressed key areas of the declaration, including real estate, landed property, financial assets and digital assets, providing participants with practical guidance and clarifications on the information required under each category.
The Head of the Human Resource Department, Mrs Boladale Owotade, in her closing remarks, thanked members of staff for their attendance and active participation in the programme. She also expressed appreciation to the officials of the Code of Conduct Bureau for taking the time to visit the hospital and enlighten staff on the new developments, requirements and guidelines regarding Assets Declaration.
