The College of Nursing Sciences at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife, marked a significant milestone by matriculating and capping 102 students in the National Diploma category (ND1) on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Dr. (Mrs.) Aderonke Awoseemo, the Director of Nursing Education, emphasized the profound responsibilities that come with the nursing profession.

Using the acronym CAP, she outlined the core mandates of nurses: the conservation of life, alleviation of suffering, and the promotion of health, along with the prevention of illness.

Dr. (Mrs.) Awoseemo urged the students to view nursing as a calling, emphasizing that success in this career requires not only skill but also empathy.

Representing the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Mrs. Adekemi Alayoayo, the state officer, stressed the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing their studentship.

In her goodwill message, the Acting Director of Administration, Dr. (Mrs.) Fidelia Adefisayo, urged the matriculants to maintain good conduct, making both the institution and their parents proud.

The keynote address, the Chief Medical Director represented by Prof. Josephine Eziyi, Acting Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, highlighted the need for nursing graduates to be agents of positive change in society.

The matriculants were encouraged to be ambassadors of the institution. Prof. Josephine Eziyi received a recognition award for being the first female CMAC in the history of OAUTHC, Ile-Ife.

The college authority announced that three matriculants excelled in their first-semester examinations, with Miss Oyedepo Mojisola Mary earning the top position, followed by Adeboye Israel and Kuteyi Feranmi as the second and third-best students, respectively.
