It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Prof. Anthony Oluwole Arigbabu, an esteemed surgeon, visionary leader, and one of the founding figures of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC). His influence will forever echo within the esteemed realms of medicine and education.

A Glimpse into His Life:

– Born: 29th November, 1935, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria.

– Departed: 27th February, 2024, in Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

A Life Marked by Excellence:

Prof. Arigbabu’s journey was a tapestry of excellence. As a surgeon, his skilled hands worked with precision, saving numerous lives and easing suffering. His commitment to patient care was unwavering, leaving an indelible impact on the medical community.

A Visionary Luminary:

A key architect of OAUTHC, Prof. Arigbabu steered the institution toward greatness. His vision encompassed not only clinical practice but also research, education, and community health. Under his stewardship, OAUTHC blossomed into a beacon of medical prowess.

A Mentor Par Excellence:

Beyond his surgical prowess, Prof. Arigbabu was an exceptional mentor. His teachings surpassed textbooks, leaving an enduring impression on generations of medical professionals. His legacy lives on through the multitude of doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers he inspired.

A Gentle Giant of Wisdom:

Outside the operating room, Prof. Arigbabu was a paternal figure—a compassionate soul who lent an ear, offered guidance, and cared deeply. His humility endeared him to all, and his wisdom was a source of comfort during challenging times.

Farewell to a Stalwart:

As we bid adieu to this extraordinary man, let us honor his life—a life devoted to healing, learning, and service. May his memory serve as a beacon, motivating us to carry forward the noble work he initiated.

Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire OAUTHC community. May you find solace in the knowledge that Prof. Arigbabu’s legacy will persist, shaping the future of medicine for generations.

Rest in Eternal Peace, Prof. Anthony Oluwole Arigbabu. Your memory shall endure in our hearts.
