The newly elected executives of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Osun State chapter, on 18th May, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Prof. John Okeniyi, in his office.
The visit, led by the President, Dr. Sekinah Oyebamiji, aimed to strengthen collaboration between the association and the hospital management, while also discussing issues affecting resident doctors and the proposed MWAN crèche facility.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Oyebamiji emphasized the need to upgrade and expand the crèche to better support nursing mothers and medical personnel balancing clinical responsibilities with childcare. She also stressed the importance of improving security around the facility through the provision of security guards and installation of surveillance cameras.

The delegation further raised concerns about the welfare and call-duty conditions of resident doctors. The MWAN team commended the hospital management for providing accommodation for resident doctors and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at making the hospital a more productive and staff-friendly environment.
In his response, the CMD, Prof. John Okeniyi, described the visit as timely and appreciated the association’s commitment to staff welfare. He assured the delegation that the Management would look into the concerns raised by resident doctors.

Prof. Okeniyi noted that the proposal for a bigger crèche was both practical and forward-looking, stressing that locating the facility within the hospital premises would improve accessibility, staff welfare, and retention, particularly for nursing mothers and female healthcare workers.
The visit concluded with the presentation of a gift to the CMD by the MWAN executives.
