The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Osun State Chapter, along with the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), OAUTHC Chapter, and the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), OAUTHC Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Professor John Okeniyi, on Wednesday.
Dr. Adeniyi Olanipekun Fasanu, Chairman of NMA, Osun State Chapter, led the delegation and expressed gratitude to Professor Okeniyi for his leadership during the difficult loss of Dr. Abosede Oria, an executive member of the association. He also commended the hospital’s management for effectively addressing recent institutional challenges and for advocating the activation of rural allowances for hospital staff.

Dr. Fasanu further appealed to the CMD to address the outstanding salary arrears owed to the 2022 cohort of doctors, emphasizing that such action would reflect a continued commitment to staff welfare.
In his response, Professor Okeniyi thanked the NMA delegation for the visit and acknowledged Dr. Fasanu’s leadership and contributions to the medical community. He assured the delegation of his administration’s unwavering dedication to staff welfare, stressing that the hospital remains committed to ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in line with civil service regulations.

The visit concluded with presentation of gift to the CMD, and vote of thanks from Dr. Ojo John, Secretary of the NMA, who extended appreciation to Professor Okeniyi for his hospitality and ongoing engagement with the medical community. Dr. John also praised the CMD for his leadership, particularly in securing rural allowances and supporting staff during critical moments.

The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both the hospital management and the NMA to improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the welfare of medical personnel within the institution.
