The Staff Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Limited (SCICS) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) has sworn in a newly elected executive. In a gesture of goodwill, the outgoing executive members on behalf of the cooperative society presented a newly constructed security post to the hospital management on March 27, 2025.
During his farewell address, the outgoing President, Mr. Francis Popoola, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Chief Medical Director and the hospital management, acknowledging their role in creating an enabling environment for the society’s growth. He advised cooperative members to avoid loans that could lead to financial distress and emphasized the importance of timely repayment of loans and savings deductions. He also extended his appreciation to the Director of Cooperative Services, Osun State, for his guidance throughout their tenure.

The newly elected President, Mr. Adesuyi Adejuwon, thanked members for entrusting him with the leadership of the cooperative and commended the hospital management for ensuring a free and fair election. He outlined his administration’s key focus areas, including timely loan disbursement, prompt payment of retirees’ savings benefits, and the provision of emergency loans to members in urgent need. He also pledged to enhance member engagement and ensure the cooperative’s long-term sustainability.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. John Okeniyi, praised the cooperative for its contribution to the hospital and described the donation of the security post as a welcome development. He encouraged the new executive to build on the achievements of their predecessors and work collectively to implement more impactful projects. He also urged them to address any lingering issues affecting the cooperative.

The representative of the Osun State Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives Alhaji Tiamiyu W.A congratulated the newly elected executives and encouraged them to follow the example set by their predecessors in achieving the cooperative’s goals.
