OAUTHC Celebrates Department of Radiology’s Post-Part 2 Fellow

The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) proudly celebrates the exceptional accomplishment of Dr. Akinola Odedeyi, a Post-Part 2 Fellow from the Department of Radiology, who has been named the winner of the Rising Star Award for the Best Medical Brain in Nigeria.

The award was presented by Shalina Healthcare, a multinational pharmaceutical company operating in 26 African countries. The competition sought to recognize the most outstanding fellowship dissertation across all medical specialties in Nigeria. Open to all medical, surgical, and dental consultants who had completed their final fellowship examination within the past three years, the competition began with 786 career specialists from 17 teaching hospitals across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The process culminated in a Grand-Finale held on February 11, 2025, at NECA House in Ikeja, Lagos. Dr. Odedeyi distinguished himself among ten finalists, each presenting their dissertations to a distinguished panel of experts. The competition also included a rigorous medical quiz that tested their overall medical knowledge. This remarkable achievement underscores the high standards of academic and research excellence upheld at OAUTHC. Dr. Odedeyi’s success serves as a powerful inspiration to both medical professionals and trainees, further solidifying the institution’s commitment to nurturing world-class medical talent.
