The Medical Laboratory Services of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, on Wednesday, 8th April, 2026, held an orientation seminar to formally welcome and prepare newly admitted Medical Laboratory Science Interns for their training.
The seminar was designed to equip the interns with essential knowledge, professional expectations, and ethical guidelines required in the medical laboratory profession.

The technical session commenced with a presentation titled “Introduction to the ABC of Medical Laboratory Science Internship Training,” delivered by Dr. Sina Iyiola, who provided an overview of the structure and expectations of the internship programme.
This was followed by a session on the “Code of Conduct of a Public Servant,” presented by Mr. Adegoke Aremu, who emphasized the importance of discipline, accountability, and professionalism in public service.

Further presentations included “Dressing Code and Laboratory Comportment” by Mrs. Ojuolape Gbadeyan, who highlighted the importance of proper appearance and appropriate behaviour in clinical settings, and “Professional Ethics of Medical Laboratory Science” by Mr. Olusegun Omisope, who stressed the need for integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical standards in laboratory practice.

In his remarks, the Director of Medical Laboratory Services, Mr. Babatunde Akanji, underscored the importance of following due procedures and established policies guiding the profession.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing interns to engage with the presenters and seek clarification on key aspects of their training.
Participants described the programme as insightful and impactful, noting that it laid a solid foundation for their professional journey in the medical laboratory field.
