The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) hosted a one-day seminar today February 17, 2025, at the OAU Students’ Clinical Skills Lecture Theatre. The seminar was designed to equip senior staff with essential knowledge and guidance ahead of the hospital’s upcoming promotion exercise, scheduled to take place from Monday February 24th  to Friday February 28th , 2025.

In his opening address, the Chief Medical Director, Professor John Okeniyi, emphasized the critical role of diligence and merit in career advancement. He reassured attendees that the promotion process would be conducted with fairness, transparency, and integrity, ensuring that every qualified staff member had an equal opportunity for progression.

The seminar featured two key lectures aimed at providing crucial insights into public service regulations and professional conduct. The first lecture, delivered by Mr. Mathew Oyelami, the former Director of Administration, OAUTHC, focused on the Public Service Rules (PSR)—a framework governing the responsibilities and ethical standards of federal public servants in Nigeria. He provided an in-depth overview of the PSR.

The second lecture, presented by Mr. Shedrack Adebambo, the immediate past Head of the Human Resource Department, outlined disciplinary measures applicable to federal officers. His session aimed to educate staff on professional accountability and prepare them for the upcoming promotion examination.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Rotimi Omotoye, the current Head of the Human Resource Department, who commended the participants for their dedication and wished them success in the promotion exercise.

OAUTHC continues to prioritize staff development, reinforcing its commitment to excellence in healthcare administration and service delivery.
