The management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, recently organized a capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening financial management skills and promoting unity among healthcare professionals in leadership positions.
The event targeted directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, and middle management officers, reflecting the institution’s commitment to enhancing administrative efficiency and fostering a collaborative work environment.
In his opening address, the Chief Medical Director, Professor John Okeniyi, outlined the workshop’s objective of equipping participants with tools to boost commitment, financial literacy, and ethical leadership. He underscored the critical role of sincerity, competence, and diligence in advancing the hospital’s mission and vision.
Professor Okeniyi highlighted the importance of teamwork and seamless coordination, emphasizing that improved productivity is achievable when collaboration is prioritized.
Delivering a lecture on ethical leadership, the Director of Administration, Dr. Ayodeji Bobade, described ethics as the cornerstone of institutional success.
He emphasized that ethical values must guide daily operations, ensuring fairness and integrity across departments. Dr. Bobade encouraged leaders to instill loyalty and dedication within their teams, warning against favoritism and corruption. A former Director of Administration, Dr. Matthew Oyelami, presented a session on fostering unity among healthcare professionals. In a session focused on financial management, the Director of Finance, Mrs. Foluke Fola-Alao, stressed the significance of continuous capacity building in navigating evolving financial landscapes. Mrs. Fola-Alao called for increased investment in capacity development initiatives, noting that staying abreast of emerging trends enhances efficiency and strengthens institutional resilience.
