In a remarkable display of unity and support, the revered Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan OGUNWUSI, Ojaja II, extended his blessings and well-wishes for the newly appointed Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The auspicious occasion, marked by a courtesy visit to the palace on Friday, the 13th of October, 2023, was a momentous affair for all involved.

The Management team led by the new CMD, Prof. John Okeniyi, seized the opportunity to visit the King to congratulate His Imperial Majesty on the just concluded Olojo festival celebration and introduce the new Management team.

During the visit, Prof. Okeniyi underscored the pivotal role played by OAUTHC in reducing the burden of congenital heart disease in Nigeria.

In a remarkable achievement, he highlighted that OAUTHC is the first public hospital in the country to routinely perform Open Heart Surgeries entirely conducted by indigenous medical teams.

The visionary CMD’s aspiration for the hospital extends beyond national borders, as he expressed his fervent wish for OAUTHC to become the hub for open heart surgery in the West African sub-region.

In response, the Ooni of Ife assured the hospital and its new management team of his unwavering support. He pledged to harness his influence to draw the attention of distinguished sons and daughters of Ile-Ife, inspiring a collaborative effort that would foster development and enhance the institution’s growth.

The distinguished entourage accompanying Prof. Okeniyi included key figures such as Prof. Eniola Eziyi (Ag.CMAC), Mrs. Fidelia Adefisayo (Ag. DA), Mrs. Titi Bifarin (Director of Nursing Services), Mr. Biodun Eluyemi (Director of Procurement), Mrs. Foluke Fola-Alao (Director of Finance and Accounts), and Mr. Shadrach Adebambo (Head of Establishment).

Others who graced this momentous event were Mr. Ahmed Orabiyi (Head of Servicom), Mr. Dotun Aiyetigbo (Ag. Head of General Adminstration), and Kemi Fasooto (Head of Corporate Services).
