Prof. Lateef Salawu has been appointed as the Acting Chief Medical Director (Ag CMD) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, by the Federal Government, effective immediately.

This decision was made on Monday, 3rd July, 2023 after a seven-hour meeting involving the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, Engr. Funso Adebiyi, and other stakeholders of the institution.

Prof. Salawu is a Consultant Haematologist at the hospital and the Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

The appointment comes in the wake of a leadership dispute that has plagued OAUTHC for the past month. However, during a press briefing held at the Main Auditorium of the hospital after the meeting, the Permanent Secretary announced Prof. Salawu as the Ag. CMD. He will serve for a maximum period of six months until a substantive CMD is appointed.

The general public is advised to take note of this appointment.
