As part of the activities marking his early days in office, the newly appointed Chief Medical Director of the Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile Ife. Prof. John Okeniyi paid a courtesy visit to the Ijesaland Geriatric Centre on Thursday the 12th of October 2023.
Prof. Okeniyi’s visit had a dual purpose: to assess the state of affairs at the Hospital and to introduce a transformative vision for the institution. During his visit, the CMD addressed a broad spectrum of issues, setting a course for groundbreaking improvements.
One of the key areas of focus was infrastructure and aesthetics. Prof. Okeniyi stressed the urgency of enhancing the Hospital’s physical facilities, ensuring immaculate maintenance, and providing consistent water and electricity supply.
His directive aims to optimise patient waiting times and streamline administrative processes, ultimately creating a more efficient and patient-centric environment.
He also emphasised the need to fully digitalise the day-to-day running of the Hospital as well as the promotion of the Hospital’s corporate image.
Moreover, in a resolute move towards transparency and accountability, the CMD declared his intent to re-constitute the Anti-corruption and Transparency Unit, along with all other ad hoc committees within the hospital.
This resounding commitment to ethical governance sends a strong signal of zero tolerance for corruption.
Prof. Okeniyi expressed his profound gratitude to the Federal Government, led by His Excellency President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.
He lauded the tireless efforts of the Ijesa Community, the Physician-In-Charge, Dr. Ladi Fakoya, and all the dedicated staff members who have contributed to the development of the Geriatric Centre.
He concluded by presenting the current copy of the public service rules to all staff members in the Geriatric centre.
