In a significant move aimed at bolstering healthcare provisions for the elderly population, the Ijesha Community Development Assembly (ICDA), under the leadership of Chairman Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, presented an Interactive Autonomous Robot to the Ijeshaland Geriatric Centre on May 3rd, 2024.
This generous donation underscores the steadfast dedication of ICDA to advancing community welfare, particularly in prioritizing the healthcare needs of the elderly demographic.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi described the newly acquired medical apparatus as an Interactive Autonomous Robot equipped with diagnostic capabilities. Notably, a comprehensive insurance system has also been established to extend this healthcare benefit to over 1000 individuals of Ijesha descent.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining global standards, Asiwaju Fasuyi called upon all esteemed members of the Ijesha community to ensure the sustained excellence of the Geriatric Centre, thereby ensuring maximum benefit for the elderly populace of Ijeshaland and neighboring areas.
Under the initiative, medical tests and surgeries will be provided at no cost, with medications priced at 10 percent of the total expense, exclusively catering to individuals aged 60 and above.
Furthermore, the ICDA leadership urged the Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) to ensure the Geriatric Centre operates round-the-clock, emphasizing its significance as a fully functional healthcare facility rather than solely a clinic.
Expressing gratitude for the impactful contribution, Prof. John Okeniyi, Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, extended appreciation to Oba Adekunle Aromolaran for his instrumental role in facilitating the procurement of the medical equipment. Prof. Okeniyi stressed the pivotal role of the Ijesha community, both locally and internationally, in the growth and development of the Wesley Guild Hospital, and Geriatric Centre.
Highlighting the importance of technological integration for efficient patient care, Prof. Okeniyi encouraged the utilization of electronic equipment within the center to ensure prompt responses and optimal service delivery. He concluded with a fervent wish for the continued success of developmental endeavors in Ijeshaland.
In response, Oba Adekunle appreciated the hospital management and offered prayers for the enduring peace, progress, and prosperity of Ijesha and its surrounding regions
